Patient and Public Groups

Contributing to improve health and social care

We recognise the importance of Patient and Public Involvement/ Engagement (PPIE) to improve the quality and relevance of our research. We have various active PPIE groups consist of diverse knowledge, experiences and culture, providing active input into each of our research projects.

Examples of activities include:

  • Reviewing research papers and outputs;
  • Supporting communications with the public, writing lay summaries;
  • Input into study designs;
  • Working with researchers to generate new ideas and identify research priorities;
  • Co-produce new products/tools to improve care;
  • Monitoring research progress, contributing to research governance and leadership

“I enjoy being part of the team and seeing how it will benefit older people in the future using the data from the participants’ interviews, some of which I have had the privilege to have observed.”
