Fern Harvey
Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellow
ORCID 0000-0002-0157-217X
Fern joined the ASR in 2026 as a Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellow. Her role is to develop, lead and evaluate knowledge mobilisation activities to ensure research is translated into practice and policy, improving care and outcomes for older people. She is involved in a range of projects across the ASR research portfolio, including being part of the ‘Health and Care in Our Ageing Society’ theme in the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire & Humber, and contributing to national evaluations of health and care policy and service innovations.
Prior to joining the ASR, Fern has been undertaking a PhD at Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, exploring the translation of complex interventions into routine care delivery for older people. This thesis examined three stages in the research pathway to impact for NIHR funded trials evaluating complex interventions for older people that are affected by how research is designed, delivered and disseminated. It explored the role of process evaluations in understanding trial outcomes; how pragmatic trials are and the current landscape of knowledge mobilisation in this area.
Fern is also a Community nurse, working in the Leeds community neighbourhood team since 2022.
