Clinical PhD Student

Dr Matthew Knight is a Clinical PhD Student funded by Health Data Research UK. His PhD aims to determine whether a tool called the anticholinergic medication index can be used to determine a person’s likelihood of suffering a fall or delirium when admitted to hospital. The anticholinergic medication index was developed in primary care and uses information from electronic health records to determine the likelihood of a person suffering harm from anticholinergic medicines they are taking.  This PhD is supervised by Prof Andrew Clegg, Dr Oliver Todd and Dr Kate Best.

Prior to this, Matthew completed an NIHR-funded Specialised Foundation Programme in West Yorkshire where completed a descriptive analysis of the management of hypertension in care home residents using routinely collected health and social care data from Connected Bradford.
